Reporters – from providing insight into the ongoings of THIMUN to entertainment, they are essential to our MUNITY Press Team. Here is an introduction to this year’s Reporters!
Loren Martin
Loren is a 12th grader at Kaiserslautern High School in Kaiserslautern, Germany. With an American military background, she frequently moves and does not associate with any particular American state. Although she aims to pursue journalism in the future, for THIMUN, she is focusing on audio-related articles and news, assisting with Instagram Reel ideas and articles that engage various participants of THIMUN. So far Loren has written about the opening ceremony, and she is currently writing about the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Ruby Newall
Ruby is a 12th grader at St. Andrew’s College in Dublin, Ireland. She was born and raised in London until she moved to Dublin at 15. Ruby expresses herself creatively and shares her love for writing by engaging in extensive creative and school-related writing and newspapers. Having previously served as a delegate and chair at various MUN conferences, she chose to join the MUNITY Team this year to see the conference from a new perspective, and to support her further English and Drama studies in university.
Elise Bhonsle
Elise is a 12th grader at Frankfurt International School in Frankfurt, Germany. Born in New York City, she moved to Colorado, and then Frankfurt. In past conferences, Elise has been an Admin, delegate, and a chair. She has interviewed with the Danish ambassador to The Netherlands and is currently interviewing Peter Loy, the Treasurer of the THIMUN Foundation. Her enjoyment of writing and interviewing made the reporter role a natural choice.
Samika Jain
Samika, an 11th grader at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, India, has lived in India her whole life. Samika finds writing to be a powerful means of self-expression, which is why she chose to be a reporter for the MUNITY team. Apart from writing articles, she also contributes to the team’s social media efforts.
George Grimes
George is an 11th grader at the International School Basel in Switzerland, however, he is originally from England. Though he finds the idea of being a delegate or admin appealing at THIMUN, he is passionate about reporting MUN-related news, thus working in the MUNITY Team. He hopes to encapsulate the THIMUN experience more effectively through his current report on council deliberations and future articles.
Emma Mayer
Emma is a 12th grader at the International School of Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany, but she was born and raised in South Africa until she was 12. Having attended THIMUN online in 2022 as a delegate, which she found quite intimidating, she decided to join the MUNITY Team this year instead. Emma chose to be a reporter as she thoroughly enjoys writing and sharing stories with others.
Samika Jain
Paula is an 11th grader at SHAPE American High School in Mons, Belgium. Paula is originally from Austria. Having a passion for writing, she aspires to pursue a career in journalism. She chose to be a reporter, viewing it as a beneficial experience for her future endeavours.
Bella Smith
Bella is an 11th grader at SHAPE American High School in Mons, Belgium, but she is originally from the USA. Like several of her peers, Bella doesn’t identify with a particular state because she has moved around a lot. Her journalism teacher Ms. Wood suggested that she apply as a reporter for the MUNITY Team. Bella has reported on the opening ceremony and the floor names in the World Forum building.
