After the second day of THIMUN commencing, it’s time to talk about the facts. What is the best food to splurge a little cash on? Of course, there is the free lunch menu, which is great in itself, but if one happens to feel a little peckish, the World Forum restaurant is a good option. It is placed on the ground floor, by Pangea and opens at 12:00. Their selection includes something for everyone. They serve Bites as well as Combi Deals, pizza, pasta or vegan dishes, all for a very good price, ranging from 3.50€ to 8.00€. The Combi Deals come with a soft drink or water which makes it even more price worthy from 6.00€ to 10.50€.
Some may also choose to bring their own lunch or snacks. If anyone feels the need for a little sweet treat after consuming lunch, (or before, no one’s judging), then the World Cafe is where it’s at. Located on the ground floor of the World Forum, the cafe serves hot drinks like cappuccino, double espresso, and lattes for about 3.00€ each. That’s not all, of course; there’s also little treats like double chocolate, lemon, and poppy muffins.
If one desires a taste of The Hague, the Traditional Dutch Sweets stand near the entrance of the Forum has everything needed. Eva Verlaan, who has worked at other events at the World Forum states that “the Poffertjes are best sellers. For foreigners it’s interesting to taste the Dutch cuisine and for Dutch people it feels very nostalgic.” The stand is very popular during lunch time hours, the line tends to be at least 20 people.
The Poffertjes are available in two sizes, small (5.00€) and large (7.00€) which can both be ordered with Nutella (1.00€). Delegate Tinashe Chipoyera and her friends were lucky enough to have only waited 5 minutes. After ordering the most popular dish she states, “It was worth it; they’re really good.“
With this newly gathered information, surely everyone will be satisfied with their lunch order. Whether it is the free wrap or sandwich, the special dietary options, or a meal at the restaurant, everyone at THIMUN is well fed and hopefully no one goes hungry.
