The Road to THIMUN
By Cole Thompson
As the week of THIMUN 2026 approaches, the 156 incoming schools were occupied with numerous preparations. This ranged from informative meetings to revisions of concise resolutions for future, fruitful debates. These preparatory steps had been taking place over the last few months, starting on Friday, the 19th of September, when all delegation and individual student applications were due.
Since then, THIMUN’s bustling preparations have been in full effect, starting with the Secretariat Team and their arrangements with the Student Officers. Here you can view one of the multiple meetings hosted by the secretariat team on the 10th of January.

Aside from the groundwork involved with the Secretariat and Student officers, the delegation assignments were shortly followed. This started the prosperous measures of preparations, which all of the delegates underwent.
SCHUTZ AMERICAN SCHOOL

With dedication and focus, students from The Schutz American School in Egypt are seen preparing to represent the Democratic Republic of the Congo delegation. Though already busy with collaboration, the delegates were even busier navigating diplomacy.

JOHN BURROUGHS SCHOOL

The delegation of Qatar from John Burroughs School captured, researching their topics of debate and actively engaged. Whilst preparing for the far-reaching debate, they were also preparing themselves for the lengthy flight ahead.
LYCÉE FRANÇAIS VAN GOGH

“All in favour, please raise your placard”. Lycée Français Van Gogh caught testing their resolutions for flaws. Representing the delegations of Cyprus and Bhutan, they hope to arrive at the conference ready to hit the ground running.

DHIRUBHAI AMBANI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Delegates from Dhirubhai Ambani International School were occupied with tweaking compelling clauses from the delegations of Mongolia and Papua New Guinea. For them, too, a transcontinental flight was awaiting the Mumbai school. Having the privilege of easy communication with the SGl, Anoushka Tandon, meant an advantage for any queries regarding the event.

ST ANDREW’S COLLEGE

The final details of the delegations of the United States of America and Slovakia were observed being confirmed before the delegates’ departure to The Hague. Here, student officers can be seen observing the meeting, including DSG, Zahra Nassiri.

Without these immense and meaningful provisions, the conference would not be as put together as it is today! For such a significant event like this, these steps are crucial and make the conference the influential and substantial occasion which it lives to be. We hope you can grasp the varied planning behind the scenes of THIMUN and hold it with you as you progress through the week.
