THIMUN 2025 is officially opening its doors to thousands of participating delegates this week. Between the debates, speeches, guest appearances, and events, this 57th edition of THIMUN The Hague will be packed with activities and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for many participants. Where does the MUNITY Press and Communications team fit into this? Officially journalists for a week, MUNITY members walk into the World Forum in The Hague with aspirations and hopes of achievements, much like everyone else. However, their goals do not revolve around submitting a resolution or efficiently delivering a speech.
When asked about the importance of the press team, Co-Editor-in-Chief of MUNITY 2025, Ana Ibanescu, stated that it is “very important, as they report on the happenings of a significant annual event.” The goal outfits members, according to her, is to provide “insight and entertainment for all the delegates who spend their whole days debating, so they can see what THIMUN looks like, from the perspective of people who are not attending for the sole purpose of debating”. As a member of MUNITY last year, her own experience was very positive, as she “ loved the experience of being part of the team, and THIMUN overall,” prompting her to return this year ready to contribute even more to the team and take on more responsibility as Co-Editor-in-Chief.
For another returning delegate of the press team, Anna Plunkett, the importance of MUNITY in THIMUN lies in its responsibility to “document the proceedings of the conference, which includes writing articles, taking photographs, and creating reports on various sessions and debates.” For this photographer, having a press team helps “to keep a record of the event and provides valuable insights for participants and those who can’t attend,” recording each THIMUN conference to history through the content created by MUNITY throughout the week. Her return to the press team is due to her “amazing experience” last year. “I made lifelong friends and most importantly had a lot of fun. It also gave me skills that will help me in life such as improving my communication skills and team building,” she said, embodying the goals of every generation of MUNITY delegates when participating in such a conference. She ends her interview by expressing the thought in every delegate’s mind as the conference inches closer, saying, “I can’t wait to see what this year has in store!”
